Bryant M. Kirkland Minister of the Chapel Endowment

The Seminary's Board of Trustees has endorsed the establishment of the Bryant M. Kirkland Minister of the Chapel Endowment, noting that "worship had been the heart and soul of the ministries of Dr. Kirkland, and it is very fitting to endow this position in his memory." Gifts and commitments of $921,935 have been received toward the goal of $2 million.

Dr. Bryant M. Kirkland was minister of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City from 1962 to 1987 and earlier served churches in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Haddonfield, New Jersey; and Narberth and Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. He was a past president of the American Bible Society and vice president of the John Templeton Foundation. Dr. Kirkland wrote several books, including Home before Dark and A Pattern of Faith. A 1938 alumnus of Princeton Seminary, he also served the institution as a trustee from 1957 to1989 (chair from 1973 to 1979) and continued to serve as a trustee emeritus until his death on Easter Sunday in April 2000.

Friends, alumni/ae, and churches interested in honoring Bryant M. Kirkland in this very special way may send gifts to the Seminary designated for the Kirkland Minister of the Chapel Endowment.
